History

There has been a pub on the site for a very long time. The earliest record of it being in 1603. and there are some ancient looking beams in the staff accommodation. The bar area which is in the frontage facing the road was built in Victorian times whilst the dining room was added in 2003. The early nineteenth century barn has been refurbished as a separate dining/meeting area.

 

One event which stands out in the memory of the local drinkers was when Ian Botham, a former regular, had a bet with Eric Clapton and the result was that he came and played for the then landlord's son's wedding.  Read the whole story from the archive of Hereford & Worcester Radio
